About Richard (Rick) Mansfield
Hello, my name is Rick Mansfield. My vision is to help create harmony in designing both for people and for the environment by incorporating sustainable building practices and utilizing old and new design techniques. I believe the best designs are not made by a single person, and that pulling strengths from all aspects of a team help create the most efficient and effective results. I am looking for a career with people who have similar interests, and I can continue to learn from.
Education
I graduated from Twinsburg High School with the class of 2017, and became a student at Kent State University's College of Architecture and Environmental Design the fall of that same year. I have continued studying at Kent as an Honors Student, and am now finishing my Master's Degree. Along the way I picked up a Theater Scene Design minor to continue my interests in theatre and design.
VSWC Architects
Fall 2019 Internship
During the Fall 2019 semester, I took a Co-Op opportunity to work for VSWC Architects, working for their branch office in Athens, Ohio. I highly valued my time working for them, and gained skills for the field I never could have learned in a classroom, and came back with experience that launched my far beyond many of my peers.
Boy Scouts of America
Eagle Scout of Troop 327
Much of my life has been spent as a member of the Boy Scouts of America, working my way through all the ranks to reach the highest ranking in Scouting, an Eagle Scout in 2016. During my time, I hiked 100 miles through the mountains of Philmont, New Mexico for a week with only the supplies I could carry on my back. I also worked for many years staffing for National Youth Leadership Training, where we taught other scouts skills in leading teams, communication, presentation, and teaching skills.
