Rules - Temporary - Unconventional
Due to the limits placed on architects from city codes, zoning restrictions, and construction permits, we often must design within a tight box and are not allowed to dream of what might be possible. Public Imagination looks to challenge these institutions by designing temporary and movable structures in public streets and parks that dare to imagine the possibilities of what can be created, while staying within the letter of the law. By using conventional public objects in an unconventional way, or typically private objects in a public setting, designers can break free and design for the needs of the public rather than the needs of the policy.
