The Open Food Exchange creates a flow between the public, private, indoor, and outdoor, to stimulate the senses and experience food culture intimately. The exterior of the building flows inwards, creating a courtyard that mimics the outside using planters and stage platforms under a large glass roof. This acts as a hub for the surrounding neighborhood, allowing for people the eat dinner, take cooking classes, observe a street performance, and use the food market across the street. The glass panels open to create circulation for air and people throughout the building, inviting people and reducing the need for cooling.
